Sandwell Valley Sailing Club can be found on Swan Pool within the Sandwell Valley Country Park. It is within easy reach of the M5 & M6 motorway network
We are a small, friendly, family orientated club. The club meets almost every Saturday throughout the year with Racing starting at 13.00hrs. Although members are encouraged to race, you can come along and learn or just sail for fun. From May to September we also have a Thursday evening sail, from 18.30hrs through to dusk. Special events are held throughout the year.
Membership rates are amongst the lowest in the Midlands. Social events are also held throughout the year. During 2009, the sailing club celebrated its 35th Birthday. The club has been home to past National and World Championship Sailors.
The club house and pool are found on a former mining site known as the Jubilee Colliery. The pool was originally called Warstones Pool (Wassen Pool to locals). It is now known as Swan Pool. Originally it was used as a holding pool for water pumped out of the mine. Now its sources are from within the local green belt land. Previous tests of the water have found it to be near drinking quality. The clubhouse is found within the old pit head building. There are facilities for boat storage.
Sandwell Valley Country Park is also ideal for walking & cycling. Nearby is a working Victorian farm, Sandwell Park farm and the foundations of an old Monastery. There is also a local RSPB nature reserve
